Asking Questions – Finding Solutions
In arriving at the total plan as detailed in this website, we had to first ask the following questions we saw as being critical to finding the best solutions:
- How to make employment creation a community wide concern and effort? The challenge is too large for just a few good minded people wanting to make a difference. We need to arrive at a point where we don't settle for “pockets of success” but move towards community-wide involvement and eventually nation-wide success.
- How to encourage more business involvement? We need some of their resources, experience, participation etc. How do we achieve a win-win approach that would persuade many more businessmen and women to participate?
- How to inspire many more of our youth to become job creators instead of job seekers? Making it fun, exciting, challenging and practical was essential to maintain strong interest and commitment. At the same time develop the partnership between business and the community that helps our youth to successfully bridge the gap between their education and success as job creators or at the very lease become successfully self-employed.
- Developing the vision, mission and practical plan that all within the community would willingly embrace and support. We de-veloped a 2-Tier (Business + Community) plan. This means applying business methodologies to address social or community challenges. We therefore focus primarily on win-win solutions to ensure sustainability that benefits both business and the larger community.
This exercise resulted in what has become known as the BBN 6-3-1 Community Success Plan
