Filling the Leadership Void
In the ten years that it has taken to research, develop and test the acceptance of BBN, we have been greatly concerned about the leadership void in our own community. We lack a collective vision and action plan that focuses much more of our collective strength to address challenges affecting all.
Most certainly some of these challenges will be poverty, unemployment and crime. In a sense a community is much like a business in certain aspects. It does need a clear vision, a practical plan, the involvement of many, good leadership and strong motivation.
At BBN we are of the definite opinion, that business can be doing very much more to fill this void, certainly in the area that business is able to and that is to find entrepreneurial and innovative solutions facing our communities and then implementing them while learning and making corrections as progress is made.
We have developed a plan which we call the BBN 5-3-1 Community Success Plan which we are currently rolling out as the Blaauwberg Pilot Project to prove that our methodology will work. We are now beyond the development and acceptance stage (phase 1) and have begun with Phase 2. During Phase 1 we enlisted 100 BBN Go ProActive Business Members and in excess of 1,000 BBN Community Action Partners. Also see the Youth Section of this website for their feedback on the progress to date.
